Westchester Medical Center Intensive Care Unit

Renovation and Interior Design

The 24,000 square foot renovation consisted of the complete demolition and reconstruction of the main hospital tower to convert existing Medical/Surgical patient rooms into a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit, and upgrading finishes in approximately 15,000 square feet of the existing space of the main hospital. The project includes all patient rooms, infectious and protective isolation rooms, satellite caregiver stations, main nurse station including medication room, nourishment alcove, clean work room, soiled work room, consult room, conference room, staff offices and staff support spaces. The design goal was a patient-focused approach composed of warm finishes, rooms with access to natural light and decentralized, satellite nurse station pods grouped in front of patient rooms with windows providing direct observation and the ability for immediate caregiver response.
