Major Modernization, Addition and Renovation
A major addition and renovation to a fully occupied nursing home set on 103 acres, designed to take advantage of the breathing panoramic views of rolling hills and scenic landscaping. Lothrop Associates worked with Somers Manor Nursing Home to provide programming, full architectural design services and interior design to expand their facility and renovate the existing nursing home to more modern-day standards. The design featured a “home-like and hospitality-focused” atmosphere. The project included:
- An 80,000 square foot, two-story addition with 160 beds (76 new beds and 84 replacement beds), two new dining rooms, day rooms, gathering areas and support spaces;
- Renovation of the existing older vacated 84 bed portion of the facility into central services, including administration, physical therapy, occupational therapy and activity space;
- Complete renovation of the kitchen.
