Conceptual Design

Lothrop Associates was selected to design an extension to Goshen’s historic Harness Racing Museum. The intent of the new 4,000 square foot addition was two-fold. First, to replace the existing event space that required modernization and lacked the desired capacity, and second, to provide additional display areas for the Museum’s collection. The new extension, focused on revitalizing the Museum’s image, was envisioned as a structure that has a specific dialogue with the historic barn which is the nucleus of the museum.

Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame – Rendering of Proposed New Event Space: The renowned historic “Home of the Trotter” supports a vibrant tourist function on Main Street in Goshen, New York. A much-needed event space will provide an “economic engine” for the Museum and critical pre-and post-race gathering space. In keeping with the Stucco and Half-Timber architectural style of the historic horse stable (now a museum), the proposed new event space is light and airy and provides a direct connection to Main Street.
