Community

In 2024, Lothrop Associates Architects introduced “Lothrop Gives Back,” a philanthropic program designed to enhance social and business impact. This initiative empowers our team to support one another and centers on three core pillars: Social Responsibility, Impact, and Community. We aim to boost participation in volunteerism, charitable activities, mentoring programs, and local development efforts.

“Companies play a vital role in communities by creating opportunities to strengthen and connect their community members. Since 1957, our firm has partnered with hospitals, schools, clubs, and other key organizations throughout our local areas. We feel a strong commitment to giving back to these local communities. We have supported charities and participated in local initiatives through the years, but we are thrilled to officially launch our new corporate program.” — John Cutsumpas, Principal

The core pillars of the Lothrop Gives Back program—Social Responsibility, Impact, and Community—guide our efforts to make meaningful contributions. Our ongoing commitment focuses on supporting youth and career development through annual summer internships, education, job training, and fostering diverse talent. We aim to empower local high school and college students by exposing them to architectural and interior design, as well as business disciplines like Operations, Finance, and Marketing, to strengthen and enrich the workforce of tomorrow.

Our passion is to create positive change within our community, one step at a time.

To support local communities and organizations that drive impact, our firm’s summer initiative includes a toy drive that is dedicated to the youth patients at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY and The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in Bronx, NY. For the months of June and July, staff collect toys and activity kits for preschool-age, school-age, and adolescent patients. Every October, our team participates in WALK ALS, an event supporting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”. As a fundraiser, the team along with family and friends, walk at the Walkway Over The Hudson in Highland, NY. As the year closes, employees conduct various food and clothing drives and deliver to local food pantries and collection sites.

In today’s socially-conscious world, giving back is a crucial way for our business to show our dedication to making a positive impact. Both the leadership team and employees are excited about the new initiative and are eager to expand it in the years ahead.
