What made you get interested in architecture and design?
Outside of playing with rocks and sticks as a kid, my parents were so kind as to buy me Legos. The ongoing joke growing up was… “Here Daniel, you can now build your own home and move out.” I’m beginning to think it wasn’t a joke. But honestly, I was always fascinated how components are put together in order to successfully function.
What’s your best advice to someone starting in the industry?
Get out fast! Just kidding—have fun with whatever you do! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and take risks. Take the initiative and remember to pace yourself on your projects. Think carefully before you speak or type.
What is one of your favorite projects and why?
At my previous firm, I had the opportunity to serve as the Project Manager for The Recording Academy headquarters in New York City. This historic four-story townhouse, once home to one of J.P. Morgan’s attorneys, retains many of its original interior features to preserve its legacy. If you’re ever in the city, check it out at 21 East 37th Street!
One fun anecdote I love to share (though not with the Academy) is about an old cast iron farmhouse sink that was slated for demolition. My sister was renovating her kitchen at the time, so I was able to salvage it for her. I may not have made it to the Grammys, but at least I found the perfect compromise!

Other than architecture+ design, what do you enjoy?
I’ve always been a sports enthusiast, with football and hockey being my main passions. I’m a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Rangers—a unique combo, I know! Outside of sports, I love being an uncle. I even had the chance to coach my brother’s kids’ basketball team. The Commissioner emphasized that we shouldn’t keep score and that it was all about the kids having fun. I totally got it…but just so you know, my team finished 12-4! Just saying.
What is something fun that we might not know about you?
Right when I was starting Architecture in high school, I signed up for a few acting gigs in Manhattan. I took my headshots with my older sister and went to many auditions. My grandmother always said I could be the next Rupert Grint.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
There are so many places I want to visit, but Mendoza, Argentina is at the top of my list. My father has family there, including my Godmother, whom I haven’t seen since I was five. My dad always tells me that his family enjoys music, drinks wine, savors delicious food (especially tons of steak), and has long conversations that stretch late into the night. And during the day? You just relax and take a nap. Doesn’t that sound amazing?
